Cost-Effective Bathroom Updates

Luxurious bathrooms are quickly becoming the next big trend, and as much as you’d love to hop on the bandwagon and recreate your own bathroom space, budget does not always allow for those renovations we dream about. It might be nice to spend thousands of dollars remodeling the whole bathroom, but there are other small touch ups that you can perform that may seem just as luxurious and only cost you a couple hundred dollars instead of thousands. So, how can you update your space and make it feel like something new without completely breaking the bank?  Check out some of these cheap, easy ways to give your bathroom that makeover feel without all the drama and cost of a full renovation.

Touch Up the Paint
One thing that can certainly make a bathroom look run-down and dingy is old paint. If you have paint in your bathroom that is peeling away or simply looks discolored with age, consider repainting and changing up the color scheme of your bathroom. Repainting things like vanities and other bathroom furniture can be another great way of giving your bathroom a brand new look without all the cost.

Add Windows or Mirrors
Without natural lighting, a bathroom can seem dark and stormy. If you’re going to spend a few hundred bucks to add some renovations to your bathroom, consider adding a window that will allow for natural lighting. Or, if your bathroom already has a window, add some strategic mirrors that will accentuate the room’s most decorative parts and give it an overall larger appearance.

Replace the Faucets
Eventually, even the best of faucets become rusty and aged. One simple trick to give your bathroom a brand new look is to switch out those old faucets in the sink and shower/tub and replace them with shiny, new ones. If your budget allows, consider upgrading to slightly more luxurious or contemporary faucets, which will give your bathroom a new and refreshed appearance.

Give Walls Texture
Break from the tradition of smooth painted or papered walls, and give your walls a bit of personality with a textured outer coating. Textured walls are a look of the modern culture and can enhance your bathroom’s style and make it seem like a completely renovated space.

Think about a Home Spa
One way to give your bathroom the makeover of a lifetime is to turn the mundane bath and shower appliances into a home spa system. Consider a walk-in tub or an exotic steam shower. Consider your favorite part about visiting the spa and try to add those features to your own personal bathroom. Is it the jet stream massage? The lighting? The coloring? Take your favorite parts about your local spa resort and create those features in your own bathroom.

Ultimately, if you find yourself wanting to make some major changes to your bathroom on a limited budget, think about the one area of your bathroom that you’d like to see change the most, and focus on that specific project. Try to pick an area that, in changing, will give the whole bathroom a new and refreshing feel, and save the rest of the renovations for when time and budget allows.
