Pros & Cons of Wood Shower Floors

jan. 29

Admit it. When you think of bathroom or shower tiles, you think of ceramic or porcelain. Most of us do. Ceramic, porcelain, terra cotta, granite, marble, and even slate are popular choices for bathroom and shower floors. Understandably so, too. All of the stone-based tiles are inherently waterproof and easy to clean and maintain.

But, there are other kinds of materials that make good tiling choices, too. Wood is one such choice.

Let’s just say it right now. Wood is gorgeous! Believe it or not, wood can also be very durable. So you won’t need to worry about scratches or chipping ruining the look of your bathroom. Teak or acacia wood, for instance, are typically water-resistant. The natural oils and staining helps to minimize the damage that water would normally inflict on wood. So, you won’t have to worry too much about warping or splitting wood.

If you don’t mind cleaning and re-staining the wood tiles every few years, then it might be just the unique design feature you’ve been looking for.
